Indonesia forecasts 9% growth in corn production in 2025
Indonesia’s corn production is expected to continue its strong growth through 2025, driven by expanded planting area and favorable agro-climatic conditions. According to the Central Statistics Bureau (BPS), national dry grain production (14% moisture content) could reach 16.55 million tonnes, up 1.41 million tonnes (9.34%) from the same period in 2024.
BPS forecasts potential corn harvesting area in 2025 to increase to 2.79 million hectares, a 9.4% increase year-on-year. In the third sub-round (September-December), harvesting area is expected to reach 810,000 hectares, up 3.27% year-on-year, with production reaching 5.13 million tonnes, approximately 0.3% higher than in 2024.
The agency clarifies that the estimates include corn harvested early or used for feed. Final figures are subject to adjustment depending on weather conditions, pest infestations, floods, droughts, or late-season harvest delays.
