India. Sugar production should increase by 1.5 million tons – USDA
In MY 2024/2025, India’s sugar production should increase by 1.5 million tons to 35.5 million tons due to favorable weather conditions and higher yields.
This is reported in the USDA report for November 2024.
Sugar consumption is expected to increase with rising incomes. Imports are estimated to decline as production increases, while exports are expected to decline slightly due to the likelihood that the government will support export restrictions to meet domestic consumption.
