India exported record volume of meal at competitive prices
In 2023/24, India exported a record 4.8 million tons of meal for feed production (mainly cake), the highest in the last 10 years. The previous record was achieved in 2013-2014 when the country exported 4.3 million tons. The Oilseed Processors Association of India said exports have strengthened as Indian meal has become competitive in global markets. However, the pace of growth will slow down in the coming months as Argentina offers meal at more favorable prices. Rapeseed meal exports, meanwhile, remained flat as demand for soybean meal increased.
It is also worth noting that India imposed a ban on the export of defatted rice bran until July 28.
