In June, the export of Ukrainian grain through the ports of Poland amounted to 260 thousand tons
The volume of Ukrainian grain exports through the seaports of Poland in June 2023 amounted to 260 thsd tonnes. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Robert Telus.
It is noted that the export volumes in June are more than twice higher than the figures of the beginning of the year. They are also likely to grow, as Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative forces Ukraine to look for alternative routes.
In early August, some figures for Ukrainian grain exports through Polish ports were publicly announced in the context of talks between the Polish and Ukrainian agriculture ministers, Robert Telus and Mykola Solsky. In particular, according to the Polish official, the transit of Ukrainian grain in February 2023 amounted to 114 thsd tonnes, and in June – 260 thsd tonnes. According to the Polish side, this is an argument for extending the ban on exports of wheat, rapeseed, corn, and sunflower to five European countries: Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Romania.
In addition, during the talks, Minister Telus proposed measures to facilitate the transit of Ukrainian grain to seaports in various EU countries.
As previously reported, Poland will extend restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products after September 15. At the same time, the neighboring country intends to expand its border infrastructure to boost exports of Ukrainian grain.
