Hurricanes in the US and a lack of precipitation in eastern Ukraine and Brazil will affect grain markets in the near future
Just two weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the southeastern US states, including Florida, killing more than 200 people, meteorologists warned of a powerful Hurricane Milton approaching Florida, which could cause destruction and catastrophic consequences.
In the Midwest and the Central and southern Plains of the United States this week will be dominated by dry and warm weather, which will accelerate the harvest of soybeans and corn and reduce crop losses. On the weekend in the Great lakes region, the hurricane will bring rain and cold air, which will linger there for a few days, especially in the East.
In the main regions of cultivation of winter wheat heat and lack of rainfall will adversely affect the development of crops, especially in areas where there was no rain last week.
In South Brazil for several weeks are good rains, which allowed to accelerate the sowing of soybeans and corn, but in the Central States remains hot and dry, so farmers can not start sowing soybeans. It is expected that the season of heavy rains will begin two weeks later, which may delay the sowing of corn of the second crop.
In Argentina, especially in the south, there is a shortage of precipitation, but every week there are scattered rains that support winter wheat crops and promote the sowing of soybeans and corn. If the intensity of the rains does not increase over the next few weeks, the drought will become a problem for producers in most of the country.
The front from Europe brought good rains to the western and central regions of Ukraine, but the eastern regions, as well as the southwest of Russia, did not receive any precipitation. This week, eastern Ukraine, which has been suffering from drought for several months, may see light rains, which will help sowing of winter wheat. The optimal time for sowing wheat is coming to an end, but farmers continue sowing, hoping for a mild winter.
In the South-West of Russia on the weekend and next week will be a little rain, which will improve the conditions for the development of winter wheat.
In the East of Australia at the weekend there were some showers, but in other regions there was no precipitation, or they were very weak. According to forecasts, this week and next week the country may receive additional rains.
