Gross sunflower harvest exceeded 1 million tons in only three regions of Ukraine
In 2022, Ukrainian agrarians harvested sunflower from the area of 4.8 mln ha (99%) and threshed 10.5 mln tonnes of seeds at the yield of 2.17 tonnes/ha. More than 1 mln tonnes of sunflower was harvested in only three regions – Kirovohrad (1.296 mln tonnes), Poltava (1.168 mln tonnes) and Dnipropetrovsk (1.02 mln tonnes).
This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
Due to adverse weather conditions in autumn, part of the sunflower crops remained in the field. Thus, according to the Ministry, the crop was not harvested in the Dnipropetrovsk region (about 5.5% of sunflower remains in the field), Kharkiv region (2.5%), Sumy region (1.4%), Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil and Lviv regions (less than 1% in each region).
The highest average yield of sunflower was recorded in Khmelnytsky region – 3.02 tonnes/ha.
Recall that the sunflower harvest is almost 40% lower than last year.
