Grain destroyed by Russia would be enough to feed more than 10 million people for a year
In recent months, Russia has continued to strike at Ukraine’s ports and grain infrastructure and has destroyed enough grain to feed more than 10 million people for a year.
This was stated by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, opening the 15th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Force Base.
“As a result of these attacks, at least 280 thousand tons of grain were destroyed, which would be enough to feed 10.5 million people for a year,” the minister emphasized.
He said that Russia’s actions continue to threaten global food security and create conditions for a new humanitarian crisis on the planet.
Austin assured that the partners in the Ramstein format (almost 50 countries) will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance to help it defend itself against the aggressor.
As a reminder, Russia has been regularly shelling the grain infrastructure of southern Ukraine since July 17, when the Kerch Bridge was once again blown up and on the same day Russia refused to extend the grain deal.
