Global demand for soybean oil continues to grow, and a significant increase in purchases of soybean oil and palm oil in August-October 2025 completely offset the decline in sunflower oil imports, according to Oil World (Germany).

According to analysts, total global imports of the three main vegetable oils increased by approximately 1.2 million tonnes during this period.

Experts note that global soybean oil imports reached 1.35 million tonnes per month in January-October 2025, a record high and more than 20% higher than the same period last year. India’s share of global imports has increased to 35-39% in recent months.

However, in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and several North African countries, soybean oil import needs have recently been declining due to rapidly increasing soybean processing volumes, which will further constrain their demand for oil imports.

Analysts expect the market to remain volatile in the coming months, with demand uneven across different regions of the world.

It was previously reported that soybean and palm oil imports into India will increase due to lower prices. The largest buyer’s soybean oil imports in the new season are expected to exceed last year’s record of 5.47 million tonnes.
