Germany’s grain harvest to increase by 10%

The Association of German Cooperatives (DRV) has raised its grain harvest forecast for Germany from 41.7 to 43.0 million tons, which is 10% more than last year, the Zerno On-Line agency reports. The increase in gross grain harvest compared to last year was influenced by the expansion of sown areas and higher yields.
The wheat production forecast has been increased from 21.6 to 22.4 million tons, and corn from 4.5 to 4.6 million tons. The barley harvest estimate has been reduced from 10.4 to 10.3 million tons.
Heavy rains in July benefited the corn harvest, while the quality of other grains suffered.
The protein level in wheat is generally higher than in 2024, but varies across regions.
