Food Security Summit outcome: 40 countries support joint statement
Participants of the Fourth International Food Security Summit “Food from Ukraine”, held in Kyiv, confirmed their shared commitment to strengthening global food solidarity and security, developing sustainable solutions and innovations in agriculture.
This was stated in a joint statement of the participants, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
They note that the summit marked the transformation of the humanitarian initiative “Grain from Ukraine” into a broader program “Food from Ukraine”, which combines humanitarian assistance, economic interaction and technological partnership between Ukraine, donors and recipient states.
“Despite the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, Ukraine remains a reliable supplier of food products and a guarantor of global food solidarity. Thanks to the support of states and international organizations, more than 320 thousand tons of food products were delivered from Ukraine to countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East within the framework of food initiatives,” the document states.
The summit participants emphasize that global food security must remain beyond the influence of military actions, political pressure or economic manipulation.
The summit participants declared their joint readiness to:
- support the further development of the Food from Ukraine program as a component of global food solidarity;
- provide assistance for the unhindered transportation of food products from Ukraine to countries facing food challenges across the borders of other countries, in particular by ensuring the protection of port infrastructure in Ukraine;
- promote humanitarian demining, restore the agricultural sector and create conditions for sustainable production in Ukraine;
- support innovation, education and digital transformation of the agricultural sector in countries facing food problems;
