Embrapa Reports 44 Cases of Soybean Rust in Brazil

Embrapa reported that there have been 44 confirmed cases of soybean rust in Brazil. The state of Parana has the most cases at 32 followed by Rio Grande do Sul with 5, Sao Paulo with 4, Santa Catarina with 2, and Minas Gerais with 1. Last year at this time, there were 130 cases. The five-year average is 63 and the 18-year average is 108. The worst year was the 2009/10 growing season when 343 cases had been reported. The best year was 2011/12 when 16 cases had been reported.
