Embrapa Reports 118 Cases of Soybean Rust in Brazil

Embrapa reported that there have been 118 confirmed cases of soybean rust in Brazil, which is up 1 from last week. The state of Parana has the most cases at 67 followed by Rio Grande do Sul with 19, Mato Grosso do Sul with 12, Sao Paulo with 8, Santa Catarina with 3, Minas Gerais with 3, Bahia with 3, Mato Grosso with 2, and Goias with 2. Last year at this time, there were 316 cases. The five-year average is 290 and the 18-year average is 801. The worst year was the 2006/07 growing season when 2,530 cases had been reported. The best year was 2019/20 when 181 cases had been reported.
