Corn sales rise in the US

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), in late April and early May, American exporters recorded a 64% increase in corn sales compared to the previous week, reaching 1.66 million tons. At the same time, there was a decrease in soybean and wheat sales. The main importers of American corn were Japan (338.5 thousand tons), Taiwan (283.4 thousand tons), Spain (240.5 thousand tons) and Colombia (134.6 thousand tons). Since the beginning of the 2024/25 marketing year (as of May 1), the United States exported 60.41 million tons of corn, of which 43.6 million tons were shipped. The largest buyers are Mexico (20.36 million tons, 15.09 million tons shipped), Japan (10.43 million tons; 8.26 million tons) and Colombia (6.19 million tons; 5.24 million tons). In the same period last year, corn sales amounted to 47.62 million tons (34.44 million tons shipped).
Soybean sales decreased by 12% to 376.7 thousand tons, with Mexico acting as the main importer (153.8 thousand tons). Since the beginning of the season, 47.72 million tons have been sold, and 43.47 million tons of soybeans have been shipped.
Wheat sales also decreased by 3% to 69.7 thousand tons, with Mexico remaining the main buyer (37.3 thousand tons). Since the beginning of the season, total sales reached 21.42 million tons, with 19.06 million tons shipped.
