Corn is already being sown in 13 regions of Ukraine

As of April 18, 2025, Ukrainian farmers have sown 1.247 million hectares of spring grain and pulses crops across all regions, with corn planting already underway in 13 regions. The largest share of the area is dedicated to barley at 656.2 thousand hectares, followed by spring wheat (169.4 thousand ha), peas (189.4 thousand ha), oats (139.5 thousand ha), and corn (69.5 thousand ha).

Leading regions in sowing progress include Odesa (113.2 thousand ha), Khmelnytskyi (92.4 thousand ha), Poltava (91.2 thousand ha), Ternopil (90.9 thousand ha), and Vinnytsia (82.1 thousand ha). Farmers have also sown 244 thousand hectares of sunflower, 142.6 thousand hectares of sugar beets, and 16.1 thousand hectares of soybeans.

In total, Ukraine plans to sow around 5.7 million hectares of spring grains and pulses in 2025, similar to 2024 levels. A notable trend this season is the expansion of spring wheat area to 227.5 thousand hectares, driven by consistent demand from processors and exporters.
