Condition of grain crops in France is much better than last year
The condition of grain crops in France is now much better than a year ago, according to the state agency FranceAgriMer.
The share of winter soft wheat crops in good and very good condition as of March 30 was 84%, up from 76% on the same date last year. The share of durum wheat crops in good and very good condition was 81% (80%), winter barley – 81% (71%), and spring barley – 94% (86%).
Grain crops are developing faster than usual. Ninety-eight percent of winter soft wheat crops are already in the boot stage (67% on the same date last year and 83% on average over the past five years) and 99% (74% and 87%) of winter barley crops are in the boot stage. 35% (34% and 34%) of spring barley crops are in the early tillering phase.
