China maintains grain import quotas in 2026 at 2025 levels
China’s grain import tariff quotas for 2026 have been maintained at the 2025 level, according to a notice from the National Agricultural Development and Reform Commission.
The 2026 wheat import quota (including wheat flour) will be 9.6 million tons, the corn import quota (including corn flour) will be 7.2 million tons, and the rice import quota will be 5.3 million tons.
The center also notes that China has reduced purchases of quota-exempt agricultural crops this year, excluding rice. Over the first eight months, wheat imports totaled 2.6 million tons, and corn imports totaled 800,000 tons. Rice imports totaled 2 million tons, three times more than last year.
