China is the largest consumer of Ukrainian meal

In February 2025, specialists of the Southern MDU of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection issued permits for the export of 164 thousand tons of Ukrainian meal at the state border.
China became the largest importer of the product. The entire cargo was shipped by sea, the agency said in a statement.
Agricultural market experts note that the demand for Ukrainian meal is growing steadily. This is due to several factors:
- high quality of the product. Ukrainian meal meets international safety and nutritional standards;
- increased demand for protein feed. Global agricultural markets are in constant need of high-quality feed additives, especially in countries with developed livestock production;
- competitiveness of Ukrainian exports. Ukraine is one of the key suppliers of agricultural products, offering high quality at a competitive price.
In general, meal is used in the following areas:
- livestock: due to its high protein and fiber content, meal is widely used in the production of mixed fodder;
- biofuels: some types of meal can be used in the production of biofuels, making it a promising resource for the energy sector;
- organic fertilizer: due to its properties, meal can be used as a fertilizer to improve soil fertility.
“Ukraine continues to increase its exports and provides the world market with high-quality agricultural products, confirming its status as a reliable partner in international trade,” the agency summarized.
