China at 2025 having harvested a record crop of grains
China’s 2025 grain harvest will reach a record 714.88 million tons, up 1.2% from last year, the National Bureau of Statistics reported on Friday.
This is the second consecutive year that the figure has exceeded 700 million tons. Previously, annual grain production had exceeded 650 million tons for nine consecutive years.
Grain acreage increased by 0.1% this year to 119.4 million hectares. Per hectare yield increased by 1.1% compared to 2024.
The rice harvest increased by 0.7% this year to 209 million tons. Wheat production reached 140.1 million tons, roughly the same as last year.
Corn production reached a record 301.2 million tonnes, up 2.1% from the 2024 level.
