Canadian grain exports up 26% this season
During sixteen weeks of the current season Canada exported 16.6 million tons of grains, pulsees and oilseeds, which is 26% more than for the same period last season. This is reported by Zerno On-line agency with reference to the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).
The volume of soft wheat exports rose to 6.3 million tons (+1% compared to the same period last season), durum wheat – to 1.3 million tons (+53%), barley – to 0.8 million tons (+8%), peas – to 1.1 million tons (+46%), soybeans – to 1.9 million tons (+43%), canola – to 3.7 million tons (+91%).
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts, Canada could increase soft and durum wheat exports to 26.0 million tons (+2%) this season due to an increase in the crop from 32.9 million tons to 35.0 million tons. Canola export potential is estimated at 7.35 million tons (+9%).
