Canada will reduce harvesting of canola and linseed in the new season – forecast

The production volumes of oilseeds in Canada in the season-2024/25 may decrease by more than 1%, according to the experts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Canada (AAFC).
In their April report, they indicate that in the upcoming crop year, the harvest of these crops will amount to 25.26 mln tonnes, compared to 25.581 mln tonnes in 2023/24 MY and 25.711 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY.
The decline, in their opinion, will be due to the reduction of the planted areas under oilseeds by 3% to 11.123 mln ha.
According to the experts, the harvest of Canadian canola in the new season will drop to 18.1 mln tonnes (18.328 mln tonnes, 18.695 mln tonnes), oilseed linseed – to 260 thsd tonnes (273 thsd tonnes, 473 thsd tonnes), soybeans – to 6.9 mln tonnes (6.981 mln tonnes, 6.543 mln tonnes).
