Canada will plant more canola and less wheat

Statistics Canada has updated its estimate of the country’s wheat acreage in 2024 to 26.641 million acres, down from 27.05 million acres in March and down from 26.93 million acres a year earlier.
Meanwhile, traders and analysts polled by Reuters voiced a more positive assessment of the figure, at 26.94 million acres.
At the same time, the state board raised its estimate of Canadian canola acreage to 22 million acres, up from 21.39 million in its March forecast. But the updated estimate is still below last year’s 22.08 million acres. Analysts were less optimistic at 21.52 million acres.
