Canada sunflower acres decrease
According to Statistics Canada data, Canadian farmers planted 93,100 acres of sunflowers this spring, which is down 8 percent from 2021. Last year Canadian farmers planted 101,400 acres of sunflower. The 2022 acreage is slightly above the five-year average of 90,125 acres. The majority of Canada’s sunflower crop is grown in Manitoba, with production also in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
