By 2027, global chicken consumption will become the leader in the protein market

Global consumption of chicken meat is expected to surpass all other protein types by 2027, with India, Africa and Vietnam leading the way, while growth in the EU and the UK will slow. This trend will be driven by rapid income growth and urbanization, as well as the cultural adaptability and culinary versatility of chicken. The scalability and efficiency of broiler production further increase its appeal compared to other protein types. Meanwhile, a shrinking population and higher per capita consumption will limit growth in the EU and the UK.
In trade, Brazil remains the largest exporter of chicken meat, expecting 3% annualized export growth and 16% above the five-year average, supported by improved domestic corn feed availability amid avian flu outbreaks in the US. Imports from the Middle East and Japan are rising, but China is seeing a significant decline at 27% y/y, also 27% below the five-year average due to strong domestic production and robust demand.
