British Sugar plans to produce about 1.2 million tons of sugar
According to British Sugar, the MY 2024/25 sugar beet harvesting and processing campaign in the UK is underway after the last plant in Cantley opened last weekend.
In August, British Sugar announced that the MY 2024/25 sugar beet harvest and processing campaign would begin in mid-September at its Bury St Edmunds and Wissington plants. At the Newark plant, harvesting began later in September, and Kentley was the last plant to start processing last weekend.
In the current 2024/25 season, British Sugar’s four sugar mills are expected to produce about 1.2 million tons of sugar. In the MY 2023/24 season, which ended in April, more than 8 million tons of sugar beet were processed and 1.1 million tons of sugar were produced.
