Brazil’s soybean acreage expected to rise

Brazil’s soybean planting area is expected to rise 1.2% in 2025/26 from the previous season to reach 48.2 million hectares (119.1 million acres), agribusiness consultancy Safras & Mercado said on Friday.
Safras said that based on projected yields of 3,749 kilograms per hectare, soybean production in the world’s largest producer and exporter would reach a record 179.88 million metric tons, up 4.6% from 2024/25.
“We should see an increase in acreage in many producing states, especially in the central-west and northeast regions of the country,” Safras analyst Rafael Silveira said. Farmers are expected to begin planting the new crop in September.
