Сhicken meat exports are showing an accelerated pace in 2025. Avian Influenza around the world increases the prospects of record shipments for the current season. As is known, the health problem has had a strong impact on key markets such as the United States and the European Union. Brazil, which has sanitary protection on its farms, can operate on the international market with ease.

As is known, among the large producers of chicken meat on a global scale, Brazil is the only one free of Avian Influenza on its commercial farms. The tragedy of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul created a sanitary breach and led to an atypical occurrence of Newcastle disease, a problem quickly resolved by the production sector and authorities. The fact is that biosecurity offers a certificate of quality for animal proteins from Brazil.

In February, Brazil shipped around 456.53 thousand tons of chicken meat, a 17.6% increase from February 2024, when around 388.28 thousand tons of chicken meat were shipped. During the first two months, 887.19 thousand tons of chicken meat were exported, up 13.4% from the same period in 2024, when 782.5 thousand tons were exported.

Chicken meat sales are highly fragmented, without depending exclusively on a single buyer. Sales to Asia are certainly a major highlight for the country, reaching the main markets on this continent, such as the Middle East, China, and Japan.

Mexico is also an interesting possibility for the current season, considering the fierce trade dispute between the United States and its main trading partners. A possible Mexican tariff on US commodities could drive the country’s demand toward Brazilian commodities. As is well known, Brazil’s main barrier is logistics, and a possible tariff on US commodities could eliminate this barrier, allowing for greater access to the Mexican market.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the exchange rate parity remains very attractive for commodity exports in 2025. Likewise, the projection of lower domestic availability of beef tends to stimulate the consumption of all competing proteins throughout the year, which once again gives chicken meat a prominent position.

Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
