Brazil sowed almost half of planned area with soybeans
As of November 1, 2025, 47% of the planned area had been sown with soybeans in Brazil, according to monitoring results from Safras & Mercado. This is lower than last year (53%) and below the average of the last five years (55%). The lag in the pace is attributed to delayed rainfall in some regions, which made it difficult to find the optimal sowing dates.
The greatest progress was recorded in the states of Mato Grosso – 80% of the planned area was sown, Mato Grosso do Sul – 73%, while in Goiás the work was only 29%. In general, farmers are accelerating the pace of work after improving weather conditions, but in a number of regions farmers are still waiting for stable rains.
Corn sowing in the country is also slightly behind the average annual pace: 68% of the planned area was completed, compared to 72% on average over the last five years. According to StoneX analysts’ forecasts, in the 2025/26 MY season, soybean production in Brazil could reach 178.9 million tons, and corn production could reach 135.2 million tons.
