Brazil increases corn crop estimate

The Brazilian supply company Conab increased its corn harvest estimate to 131.9 million tons in its July report, the online agricultural news platform AgroPages reported on July 21.
The forecast is now 3.72 million tons higher than in June. The first corn harvest is estimated at 24.9 million tons, the safrinha harvest (the second of the season) at 104.5 million tons, and the third harvest at 2.5 million tons. This is 14.3% more than in the 2023/24 season.
At the same time, the soybean harvest in Brazil in 2024/25 is estimated at 169.5 million tons, which means a slight decrease. Nevertheless, the soybean yield across the country is estimated at a record 3,560 c/ha. The highest yield was recorded in the state of Goiás – 4,122 c/ha, and the lowest – in the state of Rio Grande do Sul – 2,084 c/ha.
