Brazil forecasts pork production and export growth despite rising corn prices

According to a report from Itaú BBA, pork and poultry production and exports in Brazil will remain favorable in 2025, despite rising prices for corn, a key component of animal feed.
The report notes that weather conditions in April and May will be decisive, but relief is expected in the second half of the year with the second harvest.
The sector currently has a balanced supply and demand, with no sign of excessive slaughter.
Exports will remain crucial in the context of the US trade war, which could benefit Brazil. In 2025, pork production is forecast to grow by 2.2% to 4.6 million tons, while exports are forecast to grow by 4.5% to 1.6 million tons.
Brazil could increase its global market share from 15% to 16%, strengthening its position as the only one of the top five exporters showing growth. China, by contrast, will cut purchases for the fifth year in a row, forecasting imports of 1.3 million tonnes.
