Brazil has shown impressive growth in the egg production sector in recent months, as confirmed by the latest data provided by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein Producers (ABPA). In May 2025, egg exports, including both fresh and processed products, amounted to 5,358 tons, a record figure and 295.8% higher than the same period last year, when only 1,354 tons were shipped.

Financial performance

Egg export revenues also increased significantly. In May 2025, they reached US$13.756 million, up 356.2% from US$3.015 million in May 2024. In the first five months of 2025, total egg export revenue amounted to $42.100 million, up 195.8% from the same period last year, when revenue amounted to $14.235 million.

Main export destinations

Among Brazil’s importing countries, the United States has become the leader in terms of purchases of Brazilian eggs. From January to May 2025, exports to the United States increased by an impressive 996%, amounting to 9,735 tons. This indicates a growing demand for Brazilian products in the North American market.

Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Mexico are also among Brazil’s main trading partners in this segment. In particular, exports to Chile amounted to 2,354 tons, up 10.8% year-on-year. Japan, in turn, increased its import of Brazilian eggs by 160.9%, reaching 1,422 tons. Interestingly, shipments to the United Arab Emirates decreased by 13.8%, amounting to 1,422 tons.

Monthly changes and forecasts

Compared to May 2024, in May 2025, the United States registered a stunning increase in shipments by 1,384%, exporting 4,166 tons. Chile, on the other hand, showed a decrease of 22.3%, amounting to 534 tons. Japan, as already mentioned, increased purchases by 132.7%, reaching 205 tons, and Angola, although not having a comparable period, also showed interest in Brazilian eggs, importing 102 tons.

Reasons for the growth

Such a significant increase in egg exports can be explained by several factors. Firstly, the improvement in the quality of Brazilian eggs and the development of modern technologies in production contribute to increased competitiveness in international markets. Secondly, changes in the supply chain, including logistics and marketing developments, allow Brazilian producers to more effectively enter new markets such as the United States and Japan.

Brazil is thus showing steady growth in the egg export sector, which not only has a positive impact on the country’s economy, but also opens up new opportunities for local producers. Given current trends, we can expect this momentum to continue, and Brazil to become one of the leading players in the global egg market.
