The wheat market in the Black Sea and Danube region entered the second half of February amid rising sensitivity to weather risks and uneven trade activity. Global sentiment improved as futures reacted to expectations of lower wheat acreage in the US, while regional physical markets remained driven by logistics costs and export pacing rather than futures dynamics. UkrAgroConsult highlights that current price formation increasingly reflects regional balances and execution risks.

In Ukraine, wheat exports slowed sharply during February, signaling potential revisions to seasonal export expectations. Limited shipments and growing concerns over winter crop conditions, including excess moisture and flooding in some regions, have increased uncertainty. These factors, reflected across balance tables and shipment indicators, raise the probability of higher carryover stocks toward the end of the season.

Poland shows gradual recovery in grain exports outside the EU, with cumulative shipments approaching 2.0 mln tonnes. Wheat remains the core export driver, although overall volumes are still well below peak seasons. Stable domestic prices and large stocks, estimated near 10 mln tonnes, continue to cap upside potential despite improved export performance.

Bulgaria remains highly visible on the international tender market. Active participation in MENA tenders and competitive pricing sustain export flows, although recent tender cancellations exposed sensitivity to freight costs and weather-driven risks in the Black Sea. UkrAgroConsult notes that these tender outcomes play a key role in short-term domestic price adjustments.

Market dynamics in Serbia, Hungary and russia add further complexity. Serbia reports favorable winter crop conditions across more than 640 K ha of wheat, while Hungary faces price pressure due to ample regional supply. In russia, weather risks affecting up to 10–15% of winter crops, combined with logistics disruptions and cautious selling behavior, are reshaping regional competition, as illustrated in comparative tables and trend visuals.
