Weather conditions. Unusually warm weather for this time of year prevents winter crops from entering deep dormancy, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Moisture supply. Winter crops are actually not covered with snow. The upper soil layer in many parts of the country is slightly frozen.
Crop condition. Soil temperature at the tillering node depth of winter grains ranges from -1°C to +1°C. Such weather causes the plants to lose hardiness.
