Bangladesh to import 700 thsd tons of wheat from the US annually

Bangladesh has decided to import 700,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States annually, worth about $200 million, as part of the government’s efforts to meet tariffs on its exports from the Trump administration.
The wheat will be imported over the next five years, according to a memorandum of understanding signed on July 20 by the Bangladesh Food Ministry and the American Wheat Association.
The memorandum was signed amid talks between the Bangladesh government and the US administration to reduce the 35 percent tariff on Bangladeshi goods, which is set to take effect on August 1, 2025.
