Bangladesh ignored Russian wheat in February
In February, wheat exports from Russia fell to 1.6 MMT that is down 25% from January and down 30% from February 2018/19. 24.8 MMT had been exported since the beginning of the season, or 16% less than a year earlier, UkrAgroConsult reports.
For a fourth month in a row, Egypt had been outpacing Turkey in monthly purchases of Russian wheat.
With each passing month, Egypt narrows the year-on-year gap in its purchases: now it equals 16% vs. 17% last month.
The following countries significantly reduced imports from a year earlier: Nigeria: -41%, Sudan: -14%, the EU: -61%, Vietnam: -51%.
Bangladesh, one of the three biggest importers of Russian wheat, bought no cargo in February.
