Australia’s wheat harvest to reach 32-35 mln tons – analysts

Australian farmers are expected to harvest between 32 million and 35 million tonnes of wheat. Analysts polled by Reuters have raised their forecasts as crop conditions improve.
The projected volume is comparable to last season’s 34.1 million tonnes, and well above the 10-year average of 27.6 million tonnes.
The government’s ABARES agency will publish its crop forecasts on September 2. The latest estimate, released in June, was 30.6 million tonnes. Harvesting starts in October.
Analysts estimate the barley harvest at 13.1-16 million tonnes, up from 13.3 million tonnes last year and the 10-year average of 11 million tonnes. Canola is expected at 5.8-7.2 million tonnes, up from 6.1 million tonnes last year and the 10-year average of 4.8 million tonnes.
