Australia exported 180,037 tonnes of canola in August, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data.

The figure is up 16 percent from the 154,801t shipped in July, but is 44pc below the 322,948t exported in August 2024 as part of the record shipping year to September 2024 of 6.2 million tonnes.

The United Arab Emirates on 63,004t was the largest market for canola shipped in August 2025, followed by Japan on 5,413t, and Bangladesh on 40,545t.

As is often the case in August, European destinations are absent from the list, a reflection of their own crop being available direct from the fields.

Harvest of Australia’s 2025-26 canola has just started in southern Queensland, far northern New South Wales and Western Australia.

ABARES standing forecast for canola is 6.4Mt, based on its estimate released early last month, while Lachstock Consulting’s latest released yesterday puts the crop at 6.1Mt to reflect largely dry conditions in recent weeks.
