At least 2 mln ha will be sown with soybeans in Ukraine
The trend of growing soybean areas in the medium term will continue, despite uncertainty and certain “swings”. This year, the minimum forecast for the area under this crop is 2 million hectares.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky during the conference Soybean Market: Growing. Processing. Trade.
He recalled that the record soybean harvest — more than 7 million tons — was harvested in Ukraine in 2024, last year 5 million tons were harvested.
“This year it is difficult to predict when there are many sudden geopolitical and microfactors that affect agricultural production. The preliminary estimate is that soybeans will occupy no less than 2 million hectares. We do not rule out that with the situation with fuel, fertilizers and other challenges, it is possible that more soybeans will be sown. But the minimum area under this crop will definitely be maintained, and the harvest at the level of 5 million tons should not decrease,” Taras Vysotsky noted.
He added that demand for Ukrainian soybeans and processed products is growing on world markets. About 60% of soybeans will be processed in Ukraine this season.
“The demand for these products will always be, and accordingly, the export potential will be stable,” Taras Vysotsky emphasized.
