Argentina’s soybean yield exceeds forecasts

Argentina’s soybean yields continue to exceed expectations this season, the Rosario Grain Exchange reported on Thursday, although the harvest of the key crop is still slower than usual.
“Despite the delays, we are recording higher figures than initially forecast, especially in the southern agricultural region and the western part of Buenos Aires province,” the exchange said in its weekly report.
According to the company, about 88.7% of the soybean crop has been harvested so far.
As the world’s largest exporter of soybean oil and meal, and the third-largest corn producer, Argentina has faced difficulties during the harvest. After starting the harvest in late March, farmers were faced with heavy rainfall, which slowed down not only the 2024/25 corn harvest, but also the 2025/26 wheat sowing.
According to the exchange, farmers have already threshed 43.8% of corn and sown 23.6% of the planned 6.7 million hectares with wheat.
It is expected that about 50 million tons of soybeans and 49 million tons of corn will be harvested this season.
Earlier it became known that Argentina is seeing a decrease in the rate of sunflower seeds processing, despite a high harvest. According to experts, this may support prices for sunflower oil from the Black Sea region.
