Argentina increases wheat area under cultivation
Analysts of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange raised the forecast of wheat sown area in Argentina in the current season by 100 thousand hectares, up to 6.3 million hectares.
As noted, to increase the area under wheat local farmers are stimulated by improving grain prices and inputs, even despite the lack of moisture in the soil. Areas are growing in key areas in the central and southern parts of the agricultural region.
Also, Argentina expects a significant increase in wheat yields in MY 2024/25. Analysts at the Rosario Grain Exchange forecast Argentina’s wheat production in MY 2024/25 to reach 21 million tons, 44.8% higher than the previous season (14.5 million tons).
It is also reported that as of June 19, 4.12 million hectares had been sown with wheat in the country, 65.5% of the planned area (+19.2% per week), up from 58% last year.
