Another Romanian presidential candidate said he would stop the transit of Ukrainian grain

Romanian presidential candidate Victor Ponta said on Monday that if elected, he would stop Ukrainian grain exports through the country’s Black Sea ports to protect local farmers, he told Reuters in an interview.
Romania has helped export about 29 million tons of Ukrainian grain through its Black Sea port of Constanta in the three years since Russia’s invasion, becoming a major alternative route for Ukraine.
“In recent years, there has been a policy of giving Ukrainian grain priority in access to port facilities to the detriment of Romanian grain, and Romanian farmers have been seriously affected by this,” Ponta told Reuters in an interview.
He also said he would support other aid measures already in place for Ukraine, including the transit of weapons and the training of Ukrainian pilots.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
