Already six countries have joined the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative – Zelenskyi
Six countries have already joined the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, the President of Ukraine announced.
“Today, a meeting was held in the Office regarding our Grain from Ukraine initiative. We have the consent of such countries as Germany, Poland, Belgium, Japan, Turkey, and the USA to join the work of the initiative, but these are those who have already made a decision. There will be more participating countries.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address to Ukrainians.
He added that more details on how the deal will work will be provided soon.
“I believe that this Russian aggression should lead the whole world to an obvious conclusion: there should never be mass hunger in the world. If the world works in unity, hunger will be defeated. The meaning is very simple and as concrete as possible: all the countries of the world, together with Ukraine, can provide food supply for those in the world who suffer the most from food shortages,” Zelensky emphasized.
On November 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in an address to the participants of the “Group of Twenty” summit, called on the leaders of these countries to join the Ukrainian initiative to help the poorest with food.
According to him, the first Nord Vind vessel left for Ethiopia. 27 thousand tons of wheat are on board. This is the amount of food for almost 100,000 people per year.
The president also proposes to expand the grain export initiative to other Ukrainian ports, in particular to the ports of Mykolaiv and Olvia in the Mykolaiv region.
