Algeria bought more than a million tons of wheat at a tender, deliveries are expected from the Black Sea countries of the EU and Ukraine
Algeria’s state grain procurement agency OAIC contracted 1.17 mln tonnes of milling wheat at the tender held on December 24.
The purchase prices ranged from 257 to 258 $/t C&F, which is 10 $/t lower compared to the previous tender of the agency on November 26, where the price was 267 $/t.
The wheat shipment is scheduled for February-March 2025. It is expected that most of the volumes will come from the Black Sea countries of the EU and Ukraine, some volumes are likely to come from Russia.
French wheat is unlikely to be part of the deal due to ongoing political tensions between Algeria and France.
