Al Dahra has entered into a strategic partnership with Getreide AG to purchase grain in Ukraine

Al Dahra, a UAE-based global agribusiness leader, has signed an exclusive agreement with Getreide AG Ukraine to establish strategic grain procurement operations in Ukraine. The partnership marks a significant step in Al Dahra’s international expansion and significantly strengthens its global supply chain capabilities, Khaleej Times reported.

The partnership gives Al Dahra direct access to Ukraine’s strong agricultural sector, one of the world’s largest exporters of wheat, corn and barley. The agreement strengthens Al Dahra’s competitive position in global grain markets and ensures a stable supply for customers in the Middle East and Africa.

Under the agreement, Al Dahra will initially procure 100,000 to 150,000 tonnes of agricultural commodities, with plans to expand to over 500,000 tonnes. This project in Ukraine complements the company’s existing operations in Serbia, Romania, Egypt and the US, creating a strong and diversified global supply network.

“This partnership is a key step in our strategy to ensure sustainable supply chains for our customers,” said Arno van den Berg, CEO of Al Dahra. “The exclusive relationship with Getreide AG Ukraine strategically positions us in one of the world’s most important agricultural regions, enabling us to meet the growing global demand for food.”

The integration of operations will be completed by the start of the new season in July 2025. Teams from both companies will work together to ensure a seamless transition and operational efficiency. The partnership will strengthen Al Dahra’s position as a leading player in grain trading, increasing its ability to respond flexibly to fluctuations in demand and supply.

Al Dahra, based in the UAE and half-owned by Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund ADQ, began operations in Al Ain in 1995. Today, the company manages over 400,000 acres of farmland worldwide, has 16 modern processing plants and an annual capacity of 6 million tonnes. With over 3,500 employees and procurement in over 20 countries, Al Dahra plays a key role in the UAE’s food security strategy and is committed to sustainably feeding the world’s growing population.

Getreide AG Ukraine, the Ukrainian branch of the German company Getreide AG, registered in March 2024, specializes in rapeseed processing. Led by CEO Björn Stendel, the company purchases rapeseed from Ukrainian producers for export to its plant in Rostock, Germany. It is also the exclusive representative of the Bulgarian Astra Bioplant, purchasing sunflower oil in Ukraine with delivery to Chornomorsk for further transportation to Bulgaria. It cooperates with the following companies: MHP, Eridon, Astarta, Vilia, Agrosem and NIBULON.
