According to FranceAgriMer, as of October 20, 75% of the corn area in France had been harvested, up 19% from the previous week (56%), and well above the five-year average (63%). The progress was made possible by favorable weather in key regions.
The condition of the corn crop remained stable: 60% in excellent and good condition (59% a week earlier), 24% in satisfactory condition, 16% in poor or very poor condition. The quality of the crop generally remains at an acceptable level.
In parallel, winter sowing is actively underway: 73% of the area has been sown with winter barley (45% a week earlier, the 5-year average is 60%), and 57% with winter wheat (27% and 43% respectively). Farmers are trying to complete the work before adverse conditions occur.
