Egypt purchased hundreds of thsd of tons of wheat, including Ukrainian

Egypt’s state agency Mostakbal Misr has purchased several hundred thousand tons of wheat of Ukrainian, Russian and Romanian origin at prices ranging from $250 to $258 per ton (CNF) for delivery in July-August 2025, Reuters reported, citing European traders.
The exact volume of the purchases is not yet known, but sources indicate several hundred thousand tons. According to one trader, the volume of the deal was from 300 to 400 thsd tons, another noted that the state company was looking for 600 thsd tons, and a third reported that state and private buyers together purchased from 800 thsd to 1 mln tons.
Earlier it was reported that Egypt reduced wheat imports by 30% in the first half of 2025 compared to 2024 – from 7.1 to 4.9 mln tons. This followed significant deliveries in the second half of 2024.
