The USDA forecasts that in MY 2024/25 Ukraine will account for 11.7% of world corn exports, which is the lowest figure in 14 years. Last year it was at 15.2%. This was reported by Reuters market analyst Karen Brown.

The share of Ukrainian wheat exports in MY 2024/25 will be at 7.7%, the second time below 8% in the last decade.

According to Brown, recently Ukraine has exported more than 80% of the annual corn crop and about 75% of wheat. For comparison, these same figures for the United States are 16% and 45%, respectively.

She added that the area under the three oilseed crops reached record levels in 2023-24 and 2024-25, increasing by more than 30% over the past decade due to a strong domestic processing network and high external demand for the products.

In the MY 2025/26, the area under rapeseed is likely to decrease due to severe weather conditions in the fall. The outlook for soybeans and sunflowers is mixed, but the area under oilseeds should remain stable.
