UN tries to agree on resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative – Guterres

United Nations Secretary-General says work is underway to restore the grain deal.
“We continue to work with all parties to restore safe exports of grain and fertilizers from Russia and Ukraine. This must be put on a sustainable basis, without the threat of another interruption,” Guterres said.
He added that the UN is also working to establish “a just and lasting peace in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter, international law and General Assembly resolutions.” “I call on all parties to do their part to prevent further escalation and lay the foundations for a sustainable peace,” the Secretary-General said.
According to him, the UN “is fully committed to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders”.
