Rainfall last week and over the weekend favored eastern Buenos Aires and central Argentina. The rain improved soil moisture for corn and soybean planting and emergence. Light showers are expected across Argentina during the 6-10 day period which should favor continued planting.

Recent rainfall has improved the soil moisture in most of Argentina and the soybeans were 44.4% planted as of late last week, which represents an advance of 8.6% for the week. In the core production area, the soybeans are approximately 75% planted with 30-50% planted in southern Argentina and 0% planted in far northern Argentina. Approximately 4% of the double-crop soybeans have been planted.

The soybean acreage in Argentina is still uncertain. One of the big problems with acreage in Argentina is that everyone has a different starting point. The USDA is estimating the soybean acreage at 16.9 million hectares (41.7 million acres), whereas the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange is estimating the acreage at 18.6 million hectares (45.9 million acres), for a difference of 4.2 million acres.

The soybeans are rated 96% average/good and the soil moisture for the soybeans is rated 98% adequate/optimum. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange is estimating that farmers will plant 18.6 million hectares of soybeans (45.9 million acres) in 2024/25. Below is the soybean planting progress in Argentina for November 27, 2024 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
