2023/24 Safrinha Corn in Brazil 91% Harvested

Brazil’s 2023/24 safrinha corn was 91.2% harvested as of late last week compared to 77.8% last year and 82.7% average according to Patria AgroNegocios. The harvest has been record fast due to a smaller planted acreage and early planting within the ideal planting window.
One of the last major states to harvest corn is Mato Grosso do Sul where 85.3% of the corn has been harvested compared to 52% last year according to Aprosoja/MS. In the northern part of the state, 97% of the corn has been harvested with 83% harvested in the southern part of the state. The average yield is projected at 69.77 sacks per hectare (66.5 bu/ac). The spot price for corn in Mato Grosso do Sul during the second week of August was R$ 48.38 per sack (approximately $4.10 per bushel).
