2023/24 Argentina Corn Estimate Unchanged at 46.0 Million Tons
The 2023/24 Argentina corn estimate was left unchanged this week at 46.0 million tons.
The corn in Argentina was 86.6% harvested as of late last week which represents an advance of 7.4% for the week. The nationwide corn yield is estimated at 6,490 kg/ha (103.1 bu/ac), which is down 1.0 bushel from the previous week. The final corn yield in Argentina should end up in the range of 100-102 bu/ac. The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange left the corn estimate unchanged at 46.5 million tons.
The Rosario Grain Exchange reported last week that the 2024/25 corn acreage in central Argentina could decline as much as 30% due to several factors including: unfavorable corn prices, potential reinfestation of corn leafhoppers and corn stunt disease, and potential adverse weather due to developing La Nina. Farmers still have time to change their plans if international corn prices improve over the next 1-2 months or if the spring weather cooperates.
Below is the corn harvest progress in Argentina for July 24, 2024 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
